Tanzania to have Pan-African summit, centering on social security future

(MENAFN) Tanzania is preparing to welcome a significant Pan-African summit centered on the future of social security across the continent, a senior official revealed Sunday.

Scheduled for July 10 in Arusha, northern Tanzania, the summit will gather leaders and policymakers from 15 African countries, including Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, South Sudan, Comoros, Sierra Leone, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Mali, Namibia, and the host nation.

During a press briefing in Dodoma, Ridhiwani Kikwete, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office overseeing labor, youth, employment, and disability affairs, explained that the summit aims to boost regional discussions on the critical role social security institutions play in national development strategies.

The event will be preceded by a stakeholder forum on July 9, designed to bring together experts, policymakers, regulators, and senior executives to discuss emerging trends and challenges within the sector.

Kikwete highlighted that the forum will focus on how social security can effectively contribute to Africa’s social and economic progress through investments in infrastructure and strategic initiatives.
